The Academy Awards
The Academy Awards,or "Oscar", is an annual American award ceremony,hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science ( AMPAS).This award recognises the excellence in cinematic achievement in the United States film.
Industry which is assessed by the Academy's voting members.The winner in various categories are awarded a copy of a statuette, officially called the Academy Award of Merit,and commonly known by its nickname,"Oscar".
Golden Globe Awards
The Golden Globe Awards is an American accolade, bestowed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) recognising excellence in film television,both domestic and foreign.
The annual formal ceremony and dinner,at which the awards are presented,are a major part of the film industry's awards season,which culminates each year with the Academy Awards.
Filmfare Awards
Filmfare Awards are presented annually by The Times Group for the Hindi language film industry in India.The awards were first introduced in 1954, the same year as the National Film Awards which is awarded by The Directorate of Film Festivals of the Government of India and presented by The President of India.
Bharat Ratna
The Bharat Ratna ( which means " Jewel of India") is the highest civilian award of the Republic of India which was introduced in1954 and had been awarded to 48 people till date.
Padma Awards
In 1954, the Government of India instituted Padma Vibhushan.Initially, it had three classes, namely Pahela warg, Dusra Warg and Tiara Warg.These were subsequently renamed as Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.Vice Presidential Notification was issued on January 8, 1955.
Padma Vibhushan
It is the second- highest civilian award of the Republic of India, preceded by Bharat Ratna and followed by Patna Bhushan.Instituted in 1954,the award is given for "exceptional and distinguished service", without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex.
Padma Bhushan
Padma Bhushan is the third- highest civilian award in the Republic of India,after the Bharat Ratna and the Padma Vibhushan.Padma Shri is next to Padma Bhushan.
Padma Shri (also Padmashree)
Padma Shri is awarded for " distinguished service"and is the fourth highest civilian award in the Republic of India,after the Bharat Ratna,the PadmaVibhushan and the Padma Bhushan.
Novel Prize
The Novel Prize is a set of annual international awards, bestowed in a number of categories by Swedish and Norwegian institutions recognition of academic, cultural,and/or scientific advances.
National Film Awards
The National awards for film,which were started as an annual incentive by the Government of India,for the making of artistic, component and meaningful films,have come a long way, to cover the entire nationals spectrum of Indian Cinema,to judge merit by the highest possible yardstick and to be become the most coveted and prestigious award in the country.
Booker prize
The Booker Prize award for the best original novel written in the English language and published in the United Kingdom in the year of the prize,of the nationality of their author.It is awarded every year.
Booker International Prize
The Booker International Prize is an international literary award hosted in the United Kingdom.The introduction of the International registered UK imprint,self- published novels are not eligible.
Pulitzer Prize
The Pulitzer Prize is an award for achievement in newspapers, magazine and online journalism, literature and musical composition in the United States.Prizes are awarded in 21 categories yearly.
Jnanpith Award
The Jnanpith award (also spelled as Gyanpeeth Award) was institutionalised in 1961 by philanthropist couple Late Sahi Shanti Prasad Jain and Late Rama Jain to recognise and award Indian authors for their outstanding contribution to Indian literature.It carries a cheque for 11lakh, a citation plaque and a bronze replica of Saraswati, the Indian goddes of knowledge,music,and the arts.
Ramon Magsaysay Award
The Ramon Magsaysay Award is an annual award, named after the former Philippine President, Ramon Magsaysay.
It is awarded to Asian individual and organisations for outstanding contribution in government service, public service, community leadership, journalism, literature and creative communications arts,peace and international understanding,and emergent leadership.it was first awarded in the year 1958.
Nobel Peace Prize
The Novel Peace Prize is an international prize which is awarded annually by the Norwegian Nobel committee.
The Novel Peace Prize has been called"the world's most prestigious prize".
It was not awarded on 19 occasion: in 1914-1916,1918,1923,1924,1928,1932,1939-1943,1948,1955-1956,1966-1967 and 1972.
